Kathleen and Kevin met in medical school and quickly fell in love. So, when the time came to start planning their wedding, they wanted to focus on thoughtful designs and a venue that allowed guests to really mingle and gather. I feel so fortunate to have been a part of their story, from their engagement session to their wedding day. Their wedding was impeccably curated and seamlessly executed, with a team that truly pulled out all the stops. Photographing this wedding for such a sweet couple was a true pleasure!
One of the main priorities for Kevin and Kathleen during the wedding planning process was chic, cohesive design. Kathleen opted for a custom Vera Wang wedding gown that was as distinctive as her vision for the day. The gown featured a dramatic high neck covered in intricate lace and a voluminous layered skirt. Choosing a custom gown allowed Kathleen to create a look that was entirely her own—a true reflection of her style and personality. Many of my couples choose custom options for their wedding attire, as it provides the opportunity to craft something deeply personal.
Kathleen also knew she wanted to incorporate her Chinese heritage somewhere during the day. In the end, she chose to change into a red qipao for dancing. It was such a fun pop of color and a really beautiful nod to her family and culture.
Their floral design was also thoughtful, focusing on the colors and vegetation on the Blue Hill Farm property during their wedding season. The result was a seamless, organic backdrop to their wedding day.
Blue Hill Farm is a stunning wedding venue in Upstate New York that is perfect for couples who want to prioritize good food. They are known for their incredible farm-to-table dining and rotation of top resident chefs. Kathleen and Kevin chose to rent out the entire property for their wedding day, giving us lots of room to explore. They started the day with an outdoor ceremony in the courtyard where Kathleen’s dad married them. They then hosted cocktail hour in the garden, followed by an indoor reception in the hayloft. One thing I love about this venue is that their indoor spaces are absolutely beautiful, so even in bad weather, you can guarantee a stunning wedding day.
Kathleen and Kevin fully trusted me to choose locations around the property for portraits, and we had so much fun exploring all the unique hidden areas. From the vegetable garden to the silos, we took advantage of the space and the different textures around the property. Every corner had more stunning views and beautiful greenery, and we could have truly taken portraits all day!
Kevin and Kathleen’s wedding day was not only impeccably designed but also filled with love and joy from start to finish. I hope you all love their photos as much as I loved taking them. Whether you’re getting married in LA or NY or somewhere in between, I’d love to be a part of your wedding. Let’s connect so I can hear all about your wedding day plans.
