As a wedding photographer, I love photographing couples and their guests equally. I view the guests’ fashion as an extension of the event decor and an enhancement to the wedding gallery! With 2025 just around the corner, more and more couples are embracing this perspective too. Wedding guest dress codes are becoming more detailed—picture prompts like “Italian chic” and “summer garden cocktail”—and some couples have even begun sharing mood boards of the desired color palette or vibe via their wedding website.
Is your special day upcoming? Whether you’ve already nailed down your event’s aesthetic or are still brainstorming, these 2025 wedding fashion and guest attire trends will spark inspiration. Let’s look at three recent events I’ve photographed that showcased the couple and their guests’ impeccable style!
These days, most brides are selecting at least two or three looks. Emily and Jonathan’s Amalfi Coast destination wedding began with a yacht photoshoot! Emily wore a blue toile-patterned mini dress by Oscar de la Renta. Then, she slipped into a second piece by her favored designer, covered in three-dimensional blue embroidery flowers, for the couple’s rehearsal dinner.
Her wedding gown was the Emilia by Monique Lhuillier: a romantic French lace ballgown with a plunging neckline and frothy, royal-length train. Dancing at the reception required a more movement-friendly piece, so she wore a third Oscar de la Renta dress covered in silver sequins. Coordinating silver earrings and pumps completed the party-ready look!
The couple’s guests wore vibrant fashions throughout the weekend inspired by the coastal Italian setting! Bold floral prints and textured handbags were also popular choices. The weekend concluded with a pool party send-off, where guests dressed in lightweight fabrics and patterned sarongs while Emily donned a Majolica-print Dolce & Gabbana bikini.
In 2025, more brides will embrace alternative fashions like pantsuits and two-piece sets, especially for pre and post-wedding events. This bride wore a coordinating ivory ensemble for her wedding welcome dinner, including a Danielle Frankel bustier with soft tulle draping. She completed her look with cropped, relaxed-fit trousers and strappy sandals.
Her wedding gown was also Danielle Frankel. She wore the Nina style, featuring a deep v-neck, dropped waist, and voluminous cathedral train. This dress’s combination of minimalism from the unadorned silk fabric and architectural elements is on trend for next year! Meanwhile, the couple’s guests dressed to impress. They wore elevated cocktail attire that lent subtle pops of color to the outdoor ceremony.
2025 brides are investing in their wedding attire, intentionally selecting high-quality pieces from their favorite designers. This bride, Julia, wore a silk Yves Saint Laurent dress in an earthy chartreuse tone for her welcome party that coordinated perfectly with the striped banquettes. In addition, she accessorized with a chunky ivory bangle to enhance the dress’s ultra-modern feel.
Then, for her wedding day, she wore two modern bridal looks. The first was the Maren gown by Danielle Frankel, featuring a minimal silk body with contrasting billowing gauze sleeves. Her reception dress by Christopher John Rogers also played with unexpected shapes and contrast, from the corset bodice to the dramatic tiered skirt. Striking silhouettes and luxe fabrics and textures define the quiet luxury trend!
With these trends on the horizon, I look forward to photographing 2025 wedding fashion!
