Amanda and Alex’s glamping wedding offered an exceptional guest experience, from the open-air rehearsal dinner to the floral-filled wedding day. Cedar Lakes Estate made the perfect backdrop from its stunning vantage point in the Hudson Valley.
Amanda and Alex are acclaimed professional chefs. Amanda is the proprietor of Her Place Supper Club and the couple has a joint venture, My Loup, both in Philadelphia. Recently, Bon Appetit featured Alex on the cover of their September 2024 issue! The couple’s wedding also made headlines, featuring in Philadelphia Wedding. I was honored to provide full coverage of their wedding weekend.
A Laidback, Style-Led Wedding Experience
Amanda’s wedding day style featured three looks: a minimal, sculpted-bodice ceremony gown, sleek cocktail hour shift, and flirty Dolce & Gabanna mini dress for dancing. However, her embroidered-leaf veil became the starting point for the entire wedding design, meticulously curated by Daughter of Design. An organic ethos inspired by the rustic-chic venue pervaded every detail, from the fresh fruit escort cards at the rehearsal dinner to the abundant florals decorating the wedding ceremony and reception.
Similarly, candid photography was important to the couple. They wanted me to capture every detail, but also their guests enjoying the experience. While high-style, it was truly a weekend of ease, enhanced by the idyllic, pastoral setting of Cedar Lakes Estate. The couple encouraged their guests to lounge in the hammocks, take dips in the pool and lake, and challenge each other to lawn games.
Farm-to-Table Feasting at Cedar Lakes Estate
As chefs, the food served at their wedding was one of Amanda and Alex’s top priorities. This was one of the primary reasons the couple chose Cedar Lakes Estate as their wedding venue. Serving seasonal fare prepared by the best Hudson Valley chefs—much of it harvested steps from the grounds—is one of the venue’s most notable commitments.
The couple even amended the traditional wedding day timeline so they could enjoy every aspect of the experience alongside their loved ones. Their cocktail hour came first so the couple could attend every minute of the event, sipping cocktails and savoring specially sourced caviar. We even photographed their first look and bridal portraits beforehand so the transition from cocktail hour to the ceremony was as simple as a quick outfit change for Amanda.
The views at a Hudson Valley wedding never disappoint, and Amanda and Alex’s wedding weekend at Cedar Lakes Estate was proof of that.
